Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani Wednesday said armed forces support every political process in Balochistan.
Talking to media before leaving for Moscow on three-day visit, Kayani said the Pakistan Army absolutely favors the political solution of the Balochistan issue, adding the armed forces abide by the government’s directives.
During his visit, the Army Chief Kayani will hold meetings with high civil and military leadership and discuss issues regarding regional security and stability.
Kayni’s visit is taking place in an all the more significant scenario in the wake of cancellation of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Pakistan visit.
During his four-day visit, General Kayani is expected to meet Russia’s top military and civil leaders to discuss ways to boost military-to-military cooperation between the two countries, according to the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj. Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa.
It is worth noting here that President Putin was slated to visit Islamabad in the first week of October but his visit was cancelled owing to ‘unspecified reasons’.General Kayani is also expected to visit Russia’s vital defence installations.
