Polio cases reach 41

ISLAMABAD - Polio cases surged to a record high of 41 Thursday with 900 percent increase in cases as compared to that of last year.
Two new cases were reported from North Waziristan and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa. Total polio cases in 2014 reached a record 41 as last year the polio cases were only 6.
There is a ban on polio drops in Waziristan since 2012 depriving 2,60,000 children from polio drops.
Bushra, daughter of Noor Ali Khan, is a 34-month old female child, resident of village Manzar Khel, Tehsil Miran Shah, North Waziristan Agency, who was given zero dose.
Sumaira, daughter of Zahid Ullah is a 10-month old female child, resident of village Kotka Usman Ghani Khani Killa, Tehsil Bannu, was also not vaccinated against the disease.
Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) has reported 34 cases, (NWA 31, SWA 01, Khyber 01, FR Bannu 01 cases, KPK 6 (Peshawar 03, Bannu 03), Sindh 01 (Baldia Karachi).–Staff Reporter
