Nine outlaws held; drugs, stolen items recovered





ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Police on Friday arrested nine outlaws from various areas of the city and recovered 3.105 kilograms hashish, stolen car and excavator worth Rs 4.6 million from their possession, a police spokesman said on Friday.
According to details, a police team of Sihala police station headed by SHO Inspector Bashir Ahmed arrested a drug pusher Nazeer Ahmed during routine patrolling and recovered three kilograms hashish from him. Another team from Sihala police station arrested three thieves Habib Khan, Rashid Mehmud and AbdulAziz while Waqas Ahmed, resident of Rawalpindi, was arrested for his alleged involvement in a murder case.
Station House Officer of Bhara Kahu police station, Inspector Nazir Warraich and ASI Ameer Sajjad impounded an excavator machine and found it tempered after getting verification from concerned laboratory. It was found stolen and case no. 431/12 had been also registered at City police station in Toba Tek Singh regarding its theft.
Meanwhile on Friday, Helpline of Islamabad Police—-received a total of 48165 calls during the last month and responded effectively to help seeking calls.
According to the report presented to Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, it has been told that out of these received calls, a total of 17607 calls were regarding general information while other calls included the services regarding ambulance service, fire brigade service, missing and traced persons.
The Bomb Disposal squad also assisted in ensuring foolproof security during the last month and 2381 vehicles were checked at various points of the city.
Around 1597 help-seeking calls were also received and immediate assistance was provided on them. A total of 364 cars and 65 motorbikes were also verified during July.
All the distress calls were attended on the spot and relief was provided promptly to the citizens. IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan has appealed the citizens to avoid making hoax call to Rescue 15 as such calls only waste the time of police officers and deprive the deserving people from immediate help in the difficult time.
He appreciated the services of Rescue 15 and directed to maintain the quality of service with professional commitment and dedication.
The IGP has directed in-charge Rescue 15 to visit the venue of incident in time in case of any mishap and cordon the scene till the arrival of the local police. In case of injury, he said the injured persons should be given first aid immediately.
Meanwhile, the IGP Islamabad has directed the staff of Rescue 15 to give importance to every call and try their utmost to resolve the pubic complaints.
“It is the duty of police officers to provide protection to the citizens and provide them immediate help in case of any emergency,” he said adding that community policing can only be ensured by bridging the gap between police and public.
Bani Amin Khan appreciated the performance of Rescue 15 and further directed to make every possible effort to win the public confidence.
