Marir to Faizabad overhead bridge to be built

RAWALPINDI - An overhead bridge will also be built from Marir Chowk to Faizabad to shrink the traffic pressure from Murree Road and to give better travelling facilities to the citizens of Rawalpindi. Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif said this while inaugurating Varan Tours bus service during a ceremony held at Varan Depot, Saddar here on Thursday. On his arrival, a warm welcome was given by Varan Tours staff as well as party members by showering rose petals over him. Party members also chanted full-throated slogans on this occasion in favour of Sharif brothers and against President Pervez Musharraf. "Go Musharraf Go" was the slogan, which was on every one's tongue in the hall as the Chief Minister reached roasterm for giving his speech.        On the occasion PML-N leader Ch Tanvir Ali Khan, members of national and provincial assemblies, former ISI DG Gen (r) Hameed Gul with his family members, members of EX-Servicemen Society and a good number of members of influential families of the city were present. Addressing the participants, Shahbaz Sharif said that he felt merriment to inaugurate the Varan public transport service that would provide high-quality transport facilities to the citizens of twin cities. He further said that Varan bus service, while supporting Punjab government transport policy, invested its shares to make easy the travel of common man between Rawalpindi and Islamabad and added but a dictator, over political ill-will, grounded the bus service.        The Chief Minister also appreciated Varan Tours Chairperson Uzma Gul over her steadfastness saying, "She is a brilliant and pro-business woman who did not come on back foots during fight with a dictator". "I hope Uzma will continue to serve the people of twin cities through this bus service. I will help her even at late night if she calls me in this regard", Shahbaz pledged. He said that Punjab govt was going to forming a new public transport policy through which only the owners who have quality and buses with good conditions would be permitted to run their buses on roads. "I will come Pindi for two days soon and will also take notice of the problems of Pindities" Mian Shahbaz Sharif vowed. Later, Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by PML-N MNAs, MPAs, formally inaugurated the Varan bus service by cutting ribbon. He, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, also embarked on one of the Varan buses and sat on driving seat, which amused the participant.
