ISLAMABAD - Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency on Monday inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) whereby TIKA concurred to operate and maintain four water filtration plants of the Capital city.
The MOU was signed by Maroof Afzal, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), and Mehmet Samil Emin, Country Coordinator TIKA here at CDA Headquarters on Monday. All board members of CDA and high-ups of TIKA were also present on the occasion.
As per MOU, TIKA will operate and maintain the water filtration plants located at F-6/1, G-7/3, G-10/2 and G-11/3 areas of Islamabad and will bear entire operational and maintenance cost of these plants. Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) will conduct cleanliness, drainage and maintenance of hygienic conditions at the water filtration plants.
The TIKA will conduct periodic water quality tests of water on monthly basis and will share report with CDA. All accessories, fittings and allied items will be maintained by TIKA along with record keeping of all activities and ready availability of logbook. Well-trained staff will also be deputed on the plants. The TIKA will conduct this entire exercise through a private firm and will keep watch on management and maintenance practices of the firm as well.
The MOU is the testimony of ever increasing close ties between Pakistan and Turkey and through subject MOU, the CDA and TIKA further agreed to explore even more avenues of cooperation between the two brotherly countries regarding municipal services and urban development. Both the parties further agreed to establish permanent liaison. The CDA has installed 37 water filtration plants in different areas of the city.
