ISLAMABAD - Top seed Sara Mehboob and energetic Natasha Afridi set to meet in the final of ladies singles of the 3rd PTCL-Subh-e-Nau Ladies Tennis Tournament by thrashing their respective opponents in the semi-finals here at Islamabad Club on Saturday. Sara outplayed Ushna Sohail 2-0 and Natasha thrashed Saba Aziz in similar style 2-0. The final will be played on Sunday (today) at the same venue. However, duo of foreign ladies Yumiko and Kyoko annexed the title of seniors' doubles competition, as they eliminated another foreigner pair comprising Angus and Angies in the final in straight sets. The score-line was 6-1 and 6-1. In the first semi-final of the ladies singles, top national player Sara brushed aside her rival Ushna Sohail 2-0 at 6-1 and 6-1. The winner displayed a top quality game, which was a blend of beautiful forehand drives, volleys, powerful services and excellent backhanders. She kept the situation under her control and did not allow here opponent break her service. However, Ushna succeeded in maintaining her serve twice in the match at the Islamabad Club clay courts. Meanwhile, Natasha got rid off Saba Aziz 2-0 in the second semi-final. Natasha pounced on Saba Aziz in the first set and did not allow her (Saba) to settle down in the court, as she (Natasha) finished the first set 6-0 with out conceding a single game. However, in the second set Saba showed resistance and won the third games but it was not enough to stun experienced Natasha, who claimed the second game at 6-3 to reach the final. Saba Aziz pairing with Sara Mansoor will take on top seeded doubles pair Sara Mahboob and Natasha Afridi today (Sunday) in the morning session. While, ladies single final will be played at 5 pm between Sara Mehboob and Natasha Afridi at the same venue. Results: Ladies Singles (semi-finals): Sara Mahboob beat Ushna Sohail, 6-1, 6-1.
