Top guns out to save blue-eyed

ISLAMABAD – Top officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) are out to save the skin of their blue-eyed - an accused of harassment of a female officer - and are allegedly pressurising the reported victim to reconcile with the accused, it is learnt reliably.
Despite to carryout a free and fair inquiry into the alleged gender-based harassment accusations levelled by a female officer of the Authority against one of his male colleagues, the top officials of the Capital Development Authority have continuously been forcing the victim to patch up with the alleged harasser.
The alleged accusations levelled by Ms Jaweria Maqbool, Education Officer of CDA Environment Wing, that accused Tanveer Ahmed, Data Entry Operator (HRD-III), extended threats, used abusive language and made derogatory comments on her in the presence of other colleagues when she visited the office for some official work.
According to Jaweria Maqbool, it started a few days ago when she was allotted an official residence located in Sector G-6/1-4. Earlier the said house was under the occupation of a retired CDA official. The accused Tanveer Ahmed stated himself as close relative of former allottee of the house.
When Javeria made to get possession of the house, Tanveer turned furious and threatened her of dire consequences, saying he would take appropriate revenge as he enjoys the backing of one of the prominent female MPs of the country, Faryal Talpur.
Jaweria further said that since past two month she had been receiving threatening and abusive text messages on her cell phone.
Following that she lodged a written complaint with the office of CDA Member Administration in February 2012. Member Administration Shoukat Mohmand upon receipt of complaint marked an enquiry into the issue after constituting a three-member committee headed by Mrs Najama Azhar, Deputy DG HRD, while Naeem Akhbar Dar Deputy Director (Law) and Masudur Rehman Khan Deputy Director (Confidential) as it members. Despite two months have been lapsed but the committee that is hearing the case of harassment (gender based) has yet to conclude it. Now members of the committee including its female head were allegedly forcing the victim to patch up with the accused citing the reason of immense political pressure they had been confronting in this regard.
Accused Tanveer Ahmed while sharing his side of details denied all such allegations. “How can I harass her in the presence of four other staffers of the CDA? An enquiry was marked but the committee found me innocent,” he said.
“Her (Jaweria) main aim is to disgrace my father-in-law (former allottee of house that is now under the possession of Jaweria),” he alleged. He said he had already apologised Ms Jaweria and soon the issue would be settled.
When contacted, CDA Spokesperson Ramzan Sajid said that issue was with the committee formed in this regard. He said the authority would take action against the responsible in the light of findings of the inquiry.
