FIA arrests 2 on tax evasion charges

ISLAMABAD - Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested country manager and financial controller of HP Company, a computer manufacturing firm, in a tax fraud case amounting to billions of rupees after Inland Revenue Directorate of FBR pointed out the misappropriation.
A director level officer of FIA deputed at the headquarters said that both the high-ups of the company had been arrested and a case of tax fraud had been registered after Directorate General (Intelligence & Investigation) Inland Revenue reported to the agency that some persons were involved in a tax fraud of billions of rupees.
The official said that the accused Shahid Ali Khan and Salim Raza Roujani of HP Company had been arrested and they were allegedly involved in tax evasion with the connivance of distributors of the company.
The official said that further investigations were under way.
POST OFFICE LOOTED IN RAWALPINDI
Staff Reporter from Rawalpindi adds: Five armed robbers looted cash from a post office here at Raja Town on Friday, police sources said.
A case was registered with Police Station Sadiqabd on the application of post master of P.O Raja Town, however, no arrest or recovery of booty could be made by police till filing of this report.
This daylight robbery spread a wave of panic across the locality as the other traders and shopkeepers shut down their businesses and protested against police.
 According to traders and shopkeepers, the robbers and dacoits have been on looting spree in the area but police are taking no action against them.
