ECP invites applications from political parties for election symbols by 15th March

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has invited applications from political parties which have complied with the provisions of the Political Parties Order, 2002 for allocation of election symbols.
The applications, duly signed by the respective party leader, should reach the Election Commission Secretariat Islamabad, on or before 15th March, 2013.
The political parties have been advised to file applications for allocation of symbols according to requirements of Article 5 of the Allocation of Symbols Order, 2002.
The applications should contain information about list of symbols applied for in order of preference; symbol or symbols if any allocated to the political party during the previous general elections; address of the head office of the political party; the name of its president, secretary general and other office-bearers of the central executive committee; numerical strength of its members and copy of election manifesto/copy of the constitution of the political party should be attached.
The parties have also been asked to state whether the party was represented by a member or members in the National Assembly or a provincial assembly in the past, if so, the name and other particulars of such member; whether the political party has conducted the intra-party elections as required under Article 12 of the Political Parties Order, 2002 and whether the political party has submitted its due consolidated statements of accounts audited by chartered account as required under Article 13 of the Political Parties Order, 2002.
The ECP has made it clear that incomplete applications or requests through fax will not be entertained. The applications received prior to 5th March, 2013 shall also not be considered. Thus, all such parties, who sent applications have to make fresh applications.
It also clarified that applications received after the due date, i.e., 15th March, 2013 will not be entertained.
