No room for terrorists, rental assassins in country: Rehman Malik

Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that there was no room for the terrorist and rental assassins in the country and their networks would soon be dismantled from roots.Talking to a private television channel late Tuesday night the Minister said, the terrorists who were earlier roaming in luxurious vehicles but now they are at their toes and days are not far when they will not be visible anywhere. He said the government has firm resolve to have a terror-free society and its effort would of course succeed. Commenting on recent terrorist act in Karachi the Minister said, it has not yet been determined that the attack on Muharram procession was a suicide or planted bomb blast. Some video footage have been collected which are being analyzed he said adding the DNA test of the body parts of the victims are also being conducted to know the nature of attack. To a question the Minister said that some boys claiming to be the members of Lashkar-e-Islami were arrested prior to Muharram and one of these boys told the investigators that Muharram processions would be attacked. Keeping in mind this information the law enforcing agencies have made all the possible arrangements to ensure peaceful flow of Muharram procession but the terrorists being well trained and organized did manage to penetrate through the security layers to implement their nefarious agendas. Appreciating the performance of law enforcing agencies the Minister said that around 2200 middle level leadership of the terrorist groups was nabbed while almost all the perpetrators of the terrorists acts occurred in Rawalpindi and Islamabad were arrested and they were being prosecuted in the courts. He said the hostile element have worked hard to produce rental assassins who keep on changing their strategy in the changed conditions. Earlier their target were the law enforces, then they targeted the political leaders and workers and now they were hitting the innocent citizens, he said. He said that the capacity of the law enforcers is rapidly being enhanced and their performance would further improve in the days to come. Rehman Malik said the real forces behind the terrorists are the people who want to destabilize the country. He said that involvement of foreign elements cannot be ruled out in the terrorist acts but they are local rental assassins who implement such acts. To another question the minister said that rangers and police do not have the capacity to extinguish fire adding there is however a need to establish disaster management unites in all the major cities to control the Karachi-like situation. He said that some people resorted to torch the public and private properties within minutes of Karachi incident which established that their move was pre-planed. The perpetrators of such incident wanted to create sectarian, ethnic and linguistic clashes but due to appropriate handling of the affairs by the authorities their strategy failed. The situation came under control by three-o-clock at morning for which whole the stake holder deserve appreciation, he said.
