Power outage, water shortage in QAU hostels

Power supply has been suspended since two days in several hostels of Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad (QAU) while students have also been facing water shortage. Students told Online that power supply has been suspended in hostels 3, 4 and 1 and in others since last 2 days, therefore, the Ph.D and M.phil students have been facing severe problems. Due to cut of long electricity supply for several days now students have also been facing absence of water. Students said that despite complaining several times to concerned authorities and administration, neither they paid heed over the problems of the students, nor took any initiative in this regard. While due to the recent rains the ceilings of hostels have also started seeping. They also said that university administration has pledged that they would get connection of electricity from Diplomatic Enclave in order to fulfill the energy requirements of the university. But nothing has been done so far in this project since several years just empty promises of the administration. Students said that due to cut of energy a lot of time of the students is being wasted. Therefore, they have demanded to the university administration and specifically to Chancellor, President Asif Ali Zardari to take notice of the situation and for the permanent solution of power outage in university and especially in hostels.
