ISLAMABAD - As the political temperature is hitting boiling point, PPP has increased efforts to defuse the tension between PTI and PML-N over ‘Azadi March’ while Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah started parleys with the parliamentary parties to jointly make efforts in this regard.
The PPP leadership has already jumped into the political fray through telephonic contacts with major opposition parties, including PTI, ANP, JI and PAT, to discuss the scenario.
Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah and Qamar Zaman Kaira, apparently as a last-ditch effort, would hold a crucial meeting with Imran Khan to convince him for political dialogue.
Khursheed Shah, in its fresh attempt, met Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Sirajul Haq and ANP chief Asfandyar Wali to normalise the political situation.
“We respect the mandate of all the political parties. There is a dire need for political dialogue and we are making all-out efforts to settle the matter amicably,” said Khursheed Shah and Asfandyar Wali, talking to media persons after a detailed meeting.
When contacted, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said they were making efforts to end the deadlock arising due to the hard stance of both PML-N and PTI.
“We are making efforts in the national interest as we met Asfandyar Wali and Sirajul Haq to discuss the political situation,” he said, adding they were also going to hold a meeting with Imran Khan to create an atmosphere for political dialogue.
Earlier, the opposition leader, after holding a meeting with JI Amir Sirajul Haq, told media persons that they wanted to lower the political temperature fast increasing over the issue of ‘Azadi March’ and other matters.
Shah said he was in contact with the government party members and would also contact the PTI chief to create an atmosphere conducive to dialogue.
Sirajul Haq, talking to reporters, said they discussed the political situation and the ways to resolve the ongoing tension.
“The things must be settled by choosing a right direction,” he said, adding rallies were the right of political parties, but middle ground was now the need of the hour.
