ISLAMABAD- Appointment of Pervez Rathore as acting PEMRA chairman has been challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
A private member of PEMRA, Israr Abbasi has also challenged PEMRA’s decision made on June 6, 2014. In the petition filed by Israr Abbasi in IHC, the petitioner has taken the plea that a 3-member interim committee was already working on application filed by Ministry of Defense against GEO. The appointment of acting chairman has been made to prevent the interim committee from functioning; therefore, the appointment has been revoked.

Abbasi also pleaded that the PEMRA meeting held on June 6 was illegal, also making the resultant decision illegal.
