Geelani slates police action against Kashmiri students

Islamabad - Veteran leader of Kashmir’s All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Geelani, on Thursday condemned Indian move to book Kashmiri youth for treason for their jubilation over Pakistan’s victory in Pak-India cricket match, a TV channel quoted him as stating.
“India is a big country, a home to one billion people but with a very small heart, Kashmiri people have been enchained in Indian imperialism, we are facing this situation of atrocity here every day,” said Syed Ali Geelani while talking to the channel.
On Sunday, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University in Meerut, Uttar Pardesh suspended 67 students of the Kashmiri origin for supporting Pakistani cricket team in Asia Cup match against India.
According to reports coming in from the Indian media, the Indian state police have registered a case of sedition against these 67 students.
The students have been asked to vacate the university hostel and go back to their homes in Indian Held Kashmir.
“Hundreds of thousands of people, including women, children and old men celebrated Pakistan’s victory against India in Jammu and Kashmir valley, which angered India that it expelled Kashmiri youths from their university.
“The people of Kashmir are living under Indian forced occupation, you must realise now how we are spending our days and nights but we are optimistic that we will win the freedom one day,” said Syed Ali Geelani
He said that Pakistan has vowed to support the expelled Kashmiri youth, but despite the fact India will not issue visa to them for Pakistan.
He said that the Kashmir issue could be resolved if 57 Muslim countries of the world used their influence and pressed India for violation of human rights.
