CPSP to facilitates young doctors in studies abroad

RAWALPINDI - College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has explored new avenues of luxurious overseas job opportunities for young postgraduate trainees of Pakistan which not only fulfil their required academic training obligation but also opened marvellous carrier in the medical profession. Besides adequate monitory benefits, they would also get international exposure from this exchange of training and continued research programmes. Pakistani doctors have also been invited for evaluation of trainees in different countries. Renowned Hepatalogist, Prof of medicines Rawalpindi Medical College and Controller of Examinations Regional Centre CPSP, Islamabad Dr Muhammad Shoaib Shafi stated this here on Wednesday while talking to young doctors association members in a reception hosted at Benazir Bhuttoo Hospital, Rawalpindi. Prof Shoaib Sahfi informed that a delegation of CPSP council members headed by President CPSP Professor Zafar Ullah Chaudhry visited UK on the invitation of Professor Ian Gilmore, MD, PRCP and had detailed meeting with their counterparts of Royal College of Physicians UK and also exchanged views with delegates of various prestigious academic training institutions of Medicines and other specialities to identify areas of interest and mutual cooperation in medical education, training and curriculum developments. The delegates from Pakistan included Dr Khalid Masood Gondal, Dr Muhammad Amjad, Prof Asqhar Chanaa and Prof Qazi Yaqoob. Prof Shoaib Shafi giving further details and outcomes of their visit informed that Saudi Commission for Health Specialities (SCHS) had offered nomination of CPSP examiners to evaluate final clinical and oral examination of health professionals in General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Neurology, Dermatology, Radiology, Psychiatry, General Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Urology, Anesthesia, ENT, Ophthalmology, Emergency Medicine and Cardiology. He said that various health institutions of international repute had acknowledged CPSP academic training standard and invited young Pakistani doctors to join their institutions and collaborate in medical training programmes. He said that with reference to Prof Dinesh Bhugra President UK Royal College of Psychiatrists, a request was forwarded to CPSP for initiating procedural correspondences for mutual collaboration in connection for training and curriculum development. Similarly, Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) also requested for nomination of Pakistani examiners for evaluating FCPS par-II candidates whose exams to be held in July-August 2009. Moreover, Dr. Neil Dewhurst MD Royal College of Physicians UK also invited representatives of CPSP for exchange of views with regard to share experiences about different branches of medicines. Prof Shafi mentioned that Director General of Health Malaysia, Dr. HJ. Mohammad Ismaail Merican also showed interest to meet CPSP delegates to discuss future collaboration Pakistan and Malaysia in post graduate medical education. Dr Shoaib said that Head Nuclear Medicine Services, Ministry of Health, Kuwait and President of Kuwait Nuclear Medicine Society expressed great interest in exchange of scientific and technical in the field of PET, Correlative imaging with CT, radionuclide therapy, Musculoskeletal, Cardiology, Gastrointestinal and infection. Dr Asif Ali Al Mansuri of Minsitry of Health Sultanate of Oman and Royal College of Anaesthetists London also invited Pakistani doctors to proceed for mutual cooperation in medical disciplines. Dr Shoaib Shafi informed that hundreds of job had been offered to Pakistani PG trainees in different international health institutions which is a land mark in the history of CPSP. Young doctors association members appreciated the efforts of CPSP council members and lauded the role of Prof. Zafar ullah Chaudhry President CPSP who took keen interest in promoting medical training facilities and provided golden opportunities to doctors for placement in appropriate specialties both in the country and abroad.
