Rasheed flys attack on court decorum by PTI workers

ISLAMABAD  - Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rasheed condemned the attack on the court decorum by PTI workers, terming it a result of Imran Khan's irresponsible and aggressive speeches against the judiciary in recent days.
Rasheed stated that PML-N condemns the act of violating the court decorum, as it was an attempt by PTI to pressurise an independent institution through violent means to get the verdicts in its own favour. A man who cannot bring his workers in line to respect the court decorum, how can he be expected to work for the welfare and rights of the masses, Rasheed said.
The minister pleaded to Imran to pay due regard to the sanctity of courts, apologise on behalf of his workers and train them for respecting the judiciary. He said that Imran and his party workers should adopt civilised ways of behaving with national institutions.
He said if Imran wants any amendment to electoral rules, he should proceed and knock the door of the parliament. If such an irresponsible demonstration was held on streets, as was done today in the court, then Imran would be responsible for any damage to the lives and property of the citizens, the minister added.
He said, "Democracy always listens to the dissenting voices and respects the difference of opinion." He said that the govt believes in the democratic right of holding a peaceful protest by anyone, however it must be peaceful and within the ambit of law, otherwise law would take its own course. The minister said now Pakistan is a functioning democracy where parliament is supreme as it represents the will of the people.
If Imran believes in the norms of parliamentary democracy as he himself is the member of this august house, he should come forward and plead his case on the floor with logic and arguments. He said that the protest of Imran is merely a manifestation of frustration as his government has failed to deliver in KP. Finding fault with the election process now, which made him a member of Parliament and led to the formation of his government in one province, is beyond understanding, Rasheed said.
