In-camera joint session of parliament starts

The in-camera joint session of both houses of the Parliament has gone underway. President Asif Zardari, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister summoned the in-camera session to discuss current security situation in the country and devise a comprehensive and consensus strategy in order to counter scourge of terrorism and extremism. Top officials of the army, security and law enforcing agencies will brief the elected representatives on security, law and order situation and rise in suicide attacks over the last 12 months. Army and security agencies senior officers will give detailed briefing to the parliamentarians on the measures to be taken to counter these threats in larger national interest. Meanwhile, administration has ensured tight security around the Parliament House. All vehicles entering Constitution Avenue will be subjected to thorough search by law enforcing agencies personnel.
