Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has stressed the need of upgrading the judicial system in accordance with the challenges faced like social evolution, while rapidly growing Internet technology has also caused shift in social behaviors.
He stated this while chairing a meeting of Law and Justice Commission here on Sunday. Chief justices of high courts, Shariat Court and Attorney General attended the meeting.
CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that introducing new laws is the need of the hour, as the existing laws could not meet the challenges of new circumstances.
He said that only a strong judicial system could guarantee protection of people’s right. It was judiciary’s responsibility to provide the people with justice while the constitution also called for dispensation of speedy justice, he added.
Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that there was a need to make the existing laws compatible with the requisitions of modern era.
