RAWALPINDI - The City Traffic Police (CTP) has launched a comprehensive traffic plan for the central procession of Eid Millad-un-Nabi. Besides banning vehicles' parking in the route of procession, the entrance of heavy vehicles to the procession has also been prohibited "The affected traffic will be converged on some four alternative routes," SSP Traffic Malik Matloob Ahmed informed here on Sunday. He said the traffic plan has been approved by the City Traffic Officer (CTO), Raja Riffat Mukhtar, adding that City Police Officer (CPO) Capt (Retd) Inayyat Ullah Farooqi would supervise the plan. He said the vacations of all traffic wardens have also been cancelled. He informed that on March 10, the central procession would be brought out from Markazi Jamia Masjid Rawalpindi at 10:00am, which would be passing through rge already decided routes of Banni Road, Kohati Bazaar, Circular Road, Committee Chowk, Iqbal Road, Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazaar, Dingi Khoe, Bansanwala Chowk and would culminate at Markazi Jamiah Masjid. He said that devotees could only join the procession from four points of Pull Shah Nazar, Committee Chowk, Fawara Chowk and Bansanwala Chowk and no one would be allowed to enter the procession except the aforementioned points. "Similarly, the entrance of tractors, trolleys, trucks, mini buses and Shehzore would also be banned while no one would be allowed to park vehicle in the route of the procession," SSP added. During the procession, Airport Road, Rialto Chowk, Tepu Road and Rawal Road would be opened for the traffic coming from Rawalpindi to Islamabad. "The traffic, coming from Islamabad to Rawalpindi, would be provided the route of Rawal Road, Sir Syed Chowk and Rialto Chowk while inter city traffic would reach Islamabad via Gawal Mandi, City Saddar Road, Novelty Cinema and Ganjmandi," he added. He said that the traffic plan could be modified according to the situation while in case of an problem the citizens could call CTP Help Line 1915 for assistance.
