ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League Like-Minded will support 20th Constitution Amendment Bill in the Parliament, submitted by Secretary Information PML and MNA Kashmala Tariq on February 3, 2012, in the National Assembly.
This was decided in a parliamentary meeting held in Pakistan Muslim League Central Secretariat. The meeting was attended by Salim Saifullah Khan, Humayun Akhtar Khan, Kashmala Tariq, Humayun Saifullah Khan, Arbab Zakaullah, Kishan Chand Parwani and Ghulam Hayder Samejo.
Giving details of the bill, Kashmala Tariq said she had submitted amendments in the Constitution that included Amendments in Articles 17, 25, 63A, 66, and 89. She said amendment in Article 17 demands reinsertion of clause (4).
which says that “Every political party shall subject to law, hold intra-political elections to elect its office bearers and party leaders” and Article 25, after clause (3), clause (4) shall be inserted namely, 30 per cent seats should be allocated for the women in the Parliament to meet MDGs while at present only 17 per cent women are the part of Parliament.
Amendment in Article 66 was about the same entitlement of privileges and pensions to the members of Parliament as are admissible to Grade 22 officer of the Federal Government.
Amendment in Article 89 demands for the omission of presidential ordinances during parliament session. Similarly the Bill also states about grant of 10 per cent general seats to women. Similarly Amendment of the fourth Schedule to the Constitution demands revival of health, education and sports should be included. She said that Pakistan Muslim League had already proposed the above amendments in 18th Amendment however they were not considered and I again submitted them for extreme national interest. She said that omission of 17(4) from the Constitution had promoted dynastic politics and Article 63 make the head of the party supreme who can throw out even the Prime Minister from the party.
