Illuminations, rallies to celebrate Milad today

ISLAMABAD- Eid Milad-un-Nabi is being observed across the country with religious enthusiasm today (Tuesday). The government has declared public holiday to celebrate the event. Religious and social organisations have organised different programmes to celebrate the event. Seerat conferences are being arranged besides Na'at and Quran reciting competitions. Different rallies and gatherings will also take place on the occasion. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has planned a one-day National Seerat Conference in the federal capital, which would be chaired by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. Eminent Ulema and scholars across the country would attend the conference and present their articles and thoughts on the Seerat of the Holy Prophet (SAW). Milad committees and other factions of the society would play active role in the connection to make the event historic. Special Seerat banners and illuminations on public buildings throughout the country would be arranged. Alternative traffic plan in big cities of the country has prepared to avoid any inconvenience. Meanwhile, the capital police have finalised security arrangements in the federal capital for Eid Milad-un-Nabi(SAW) procession being taken out today (Tuesday). A thorough checking of the hotels and guesthouses has also been initiated by the officials. Foolproof security has been made on the route of procession with a thorough combing of the area and heavy deployment of police personnel. Bomb disposal squad, police commandoes, Eagle Falcon and mobile vehicles will be patrolling the route. Law enforcement agencies' personnel will also cordon off the procession. Police personnel will also be deployed on the rooftops located at the procession route. Assistant Commissioner City Farasat Ali Khan, ASP City Muntazir Mehdi and other police officials will supervise the security arrangements during the processions. Markazi Milad Committee Islamabad would also constitute committees comprising volunteers to keep strict watch on suspicious persons. All the participants of the procession would pass through walkthrough gate and would be checked through metal detectors while no entry would be allowed without body search. No outside vehicle would be allowed to enter the procession. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Industrial Area Capt (R) Farid Ud Din along with SHO Margalla Muhammad Nawaz Bhatti and Muhammad Akram SI, checked security arrangements in their jurisdiction aimed to ensure full protection of life and property of the citizens. They also checked the hotels and guesthouses in Sectors G-7, G-9, G-8 and F-8 and asked the owners to further improve security of their hotels and not allow any suspicious person to stay there. Assistant Commissioner Industrial Area also checked the record of visitors/ guests staying in the guesthouses.
