RAWALPINDI - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Nasir Khan Durrani has expressed his serious concerns over frequent transfer and reshuffling of SHOs in the city, which has badly affected the functioning of Police Department. The RPO also issued show-cause notices to seven SHOs for their poor performance. He issued these directives in a meeting held in the office of Additional Inspector General of Police Rawalpindi Region to review crime situation here on Tuesday. Nasir Khan Durrani Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi presided over the meeting , which was attended by City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal Khan, SSP Operation Maqsood Khan, SP Rawal Town Khurram Shehzad, SP Saddar Ahmad Hasan Chohan, SP HQrs Ashfaq Anwar, Fida Hussain DSP Legal and all SDPOs of Rawalpindi district. City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi gave the presentation about the crime ratio in Rawalpindi. It was observed that 194 cases of murder were registered till August 2008 as compared to 153 in 2007. There was an increase of 41 cases. A considerable decrease was noted in fatal and non-fatal incidents during this period as 84 fatal incidents took place till August 2008 as compared to 97 in 2007. Similarly 131 cases of non-fatal incident took place as compared to 146 in 2007. Regarding dacoity cases, there was an increase of five cases during this year. However, decrease in robbery and burglary was witnessed since 267 incidents of robbery and 354 incidents of burglary took place during current year as compared to 284 and 368 respectively in 2007. The car-natching showed decrease as compared to last year owing to the working of Anti-car Lifting Cell. Nasir Khan Durrani Regional Police Officer, Rawalpindi Region expressed his dissatisfaction over the recovery of illicit weapons and narcotics. The challaning position of heinous crime in all police circles of Rawalpindi district was also examined in detail and it was observed that murder decrease ratio was 54 % in City Circle, 40% in Waris Khan Circle, 57 % in New Town Circle, 44% in Saddar Circle, 37% in Gujar Khan Circle, 55% in Taxila Circle and 82% in Kahuta and Murree Circles. Similarly in robbery and dacoity decrease ratio, City Circle showed 45 per cent, Waris Khan Circle 48 per cent, New Town Circle 42 percent, Kahuta 73 percent, Saddar Circle 19 per cent, Gujar Khan Circle 21 percent and Taxila per cent. During the month of August, 277 Proclaimed Offenders (Pos) and 543 Court Absconders were arrested. Regional Police Officer, Rawalpindi Region has showed satisfaction over timely completion of investigation, as majority of pending cases was cleared off. It was also observed that street crime remained a major issue for Rawalpindi City on which the City Police Officer, SSP and SDPOs were directed to work out a proper strategy to control, curb this menace. Nasir Khan Durrani directed the officers to arrest all the persons previously challaned in such cases. Regional Police Officer, Rawalpindi expressed his serious concern over frequent transfer and reshuffling of SHOs and advised the CPO to gave sufficient time to the incumbent SHOs to know the area falling under their jurisdiction and to work out strategy for controlling the crime as due to frequent transfer it becomes very difficult to hold them responsible for the crimes taken place in their jurisdiction. Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi also issued show cause notices to seven SHOs for showing poor performance during the month of August 2008. These included Inspector Suhail Akhtar Usman SHO PS R.A. Bazar, Inspector Raja Shakeel Ahmad SHO PS Pirwahdai, Inspector Asghar Ali Goriya SHO PS New Town, Inspector Rana Abdul Sattar SHO PS Wah Cantt, Inspector Sardar Zulifiqar Abbasi SHO PS Kahuta, Inspector Rana Zulifiqar SHO PS Kalar Syedan and Inspector Faisal Saleem SHO PS Murree.
