ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Pervaiz Rasheed, has said that All Parties Conference (APC) turned out to be a successful event as all political stakeholders agreed to the proposal of engaging Taliban through peace talks. Talking to media persons following the oath-taking ceremony of President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed said that political leadership is in complete consensus over the national issues. He said that Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan gave positive suggestions to nip the evil of terrorism. The information minister said that it was matter of satisfaction that all political parties are on the same page regarding agenda on national security, dialogue with Taliban, lawlessness in Karachi and Balochistan.
He said that leader of not a single political party has shown dissatisfaction over the issues and all have vowed to extend cooperation to federal government to resolve the issues confronting the national sovereignty and stability. He was of the view that dialogue is the only way to resolve issues in a peaceful manner and it would be top priority of the sitting government to find solution to all problems faced by country and its people through consultation with the stakeholders. He ruled out the impression that Pakistan army and government have different policies and said that both are on same page and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ishfaq Parvez Kiyani has clearly said that government will constitute policies and army will act upon it.
To a questions regarding meeting of chairman PTI with PM and COAS, he said that Imran Khan can brief media about the issues discussed in the meeting in better way.
