Senate moved against ‘inept’ babu’s posting in BISP

ISLAMABAD  - A senior lawmaker of MQM has submitted a call attention in the Senate asking the federal government to explain how a Distrcit Management Group (DMG) officer, sacked twice by the Punjab government for his dismal performance, was posted in the multibillion rupees project of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
The call attention notice, submitted by Tahir Hussain Mashhadi of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the Senate Secretariat on Wednesday, asked the Minister for Cabinet Secretariat to explain how a powerful DMG officer who was sacked twice by the Punjab government for his dismal performance and negligence was posted as Secretary BISP.
The notice says that the Secretary BISP soon after assuming the charge of his post in BISP has made payment of Rs 2.6 million to an NGO owned by a US national without approval of the Scrutiny Committee, as he is required to do under the rules. He is reported to have also removed an honest internal audit officer without permission of the Chairman BISP by using his contacts.
“BISP is a very important organization which is a provider of financial assistance to the poor, meek and deserving masses of Pakistan and can be said to be the only government organization which gives something of a relief to the suffering people,” Mashhadi said in the notice.
It is most obvious that these multibillion of rupees organization should be having a senior grade 21 or grade 22 officer as a Secretary. He questioned how and why a junior grade 20 officer had been posted to such an important post?
Will the honourable minister satisfy this august House and the people of Pakistan why such a junior and obviously unsuitable officer has been posted to this important post and such controversial postings are being done which are widely reported in the media and are cause of grave concern, the notice said.
