Girls prove mettle in BA/BSc exams
 
 
 

ISLAMABAD - The Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Tuesday announced the results of BA/BSc (Part-I) annual examination 2013 of federal government colleges with passing percentage 53.4.
These were the first examination of the colleges working in Islamabad Capital Territory after their affiliation with the QAU in 2012. Before the devolution of education they were affiliated with the Punjab University.
In total, 3297 students appeared from 12 colleges in the BA/BSc examination held in June this year and of them 1761 (53.4 per cent) passed the exam while 937 students (28.4 per cent) got compartment and 599 (18.2 per cent) were declared failed.
As many as, 2008 students sat in humanities exam and of them 1120 (55.8 per cent) passed the exam while 607 (30.2 percent) got compartment and 281 (14.0 per cent) were declared fail. Around 1289 students appeared in science subjects exam and of them 641 (49.7 per cent) passed while 330 (25.6 per cent) got compartment and 318 (24.7 percent) failed the exam.
Around 500 (28.4 per cent) students secured 60 per cent and above marks, 1064 (60.4 per cent) got 45 to 59.9 per cent and 197 (11.2 per cent) had 33 to 44. 9 per cent marks.
Girl students secured overall top three positions with first and third position went to F.G colleges with a maximum appeared candidates. Aneeqa Hussain D/O Muhammad Hussain of Islamabad Model College for Girls (Post Graduate) F-7/2 secured first position with marks 336/400. Second Position went to Rabia Ali D/O Ali Ahmed of Islamabad College for Girls (Post Graduate) F-6/2 who secured 327/400 marks. And Maira Ali D/O Muhammed Ali Berum Islamabad Model College for Girls (Post Graduate) F-7/4 got third position with 320/400 marks.
The result of Islamabad Model Postgraduate College for Girls, F-7/2, remained 62 percent as out of 554 appeared students 36 passed the exam; Islamabad Model Postgraduate College for Girls, F-7/4, produced 56 percent result as 540 appeared students 301 passed exam; in Islamabad Model Postgraduate College for Girls, G-10/4, 500 appeared and 250 passed with 50 pass percentage; in Islamabad College for Girls  (Post Graduate), F-6/2, 419 students appeared and 307 got passed with 73 pass percentage; in Islamabad Model College for Girls, Humak, 262 appeared and of them 139 passed with 53 pass percentage, Islamabad Model College for Girls (Post Graduate), F-10/2, produced 60 percent result as out of 158 appeared students 95 passed the exam; in Islamabad Model College for Girls , St. No.25, F-6/2, 109 appeared and of them 67 passed exam with 61 pass percentage; in Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-7/4, 97 candidates appeared and of them 64 passed with 66 pass percentage; in Islamabad College for Boys G-6/3, out of 224 appeared students 80 passed with 36 pass percentage; in Islamabad Model Postgraduate College for Men, H-8, 199 appeared and of them 56 were declared successful with 28 percentage; in Islamabad Model College for Boys, H-9, 171 appeared and of them 36 passed with 21 pass percentage; in Islamabad Model College for Boys, F-10/4, 64 appeared and of them 20 passed with 31 percentage.
The students who got compartment can appear in the next class but the students declared fail would have to take the exam of all subjects again, said the Vice Chancellor of QAU, Masoom Yasinzai who announced the result.
Regarding the delay in the announcement of result that was expected in August, he said as it was a new task for the QAU to conduct Bachelor examination of colleges so due to the lack of relevant experience the administration of the university faced problems in finalising the results.
He urged the heads of the institutes to ensure 80 percent attendance of the students as without the compulsory attendance the students would not be allowed to sit in the exams. He hoped the colleges would produce 70 percent result next year.
The VC also announced that the university would start one-week refresher courses and one-year MS programme in the evening in biology, chemistry and other major subjects for the college faculty so as to improve their qualification.
