Missing persons' families start 'long march'

ISLAMABAD - Aggrieved families of missing persons on Wednesday launched a long march from Faisalabad Bar Association for the safe recovery of their dear ones with solemn pledge to enter Islamabad with five million registered followers for staging a sit-in. A signatory campaign along with the long march was also launched for registering more and more people in the struggle for recovery of the missing persons. Families of the missing persons under the leadership of Amina Masood Janjua, Chairperson Defence of Human Rights (DHR) and wife of one of the missing persons Masood, have been waiting for the recovery of their relatives and consider that the current situation is contrary to what the Government and other people from ruling parties are announcing. During a telephonic interview with TheNation from Faisalabad, Amina Janjua informed that 100 camps would be organised in different cities during the long march. After Faisalabad, we will gather in Sialkot and then in Rawalpindi where different activities would be arranged in favour of the missing persons. At the same time relatives of the missing persons including Dr Aafias sister, Fauzia Siddiqi, will lead other camps in other cities, she added. She claimed that they would enter Islamabad with five million participants to stage sit-in. She further said that they were not against any political party or institution and just wanted safe recovery of their loved ones. Government must take practical steps for the recovery of all the missing persons including Dr Aafia and Masood Janjua, she noted. Replying to a question, she said that at a time just Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was supporting them by holding activities in Faisalabad.
