Govt not to be influenced by political pressures on economic problems: PM

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that his government is not letting itself influenced by political pressures on economic problems being faced by the country. A new and competent team is working day and night to overcome energy crisis in particular, he added. The dedicated team is fully committed to bring back Pakistan on firm and sound economic footing.
He said this while meeting International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation led by Mr. Masood Ahmed, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department IMF and Jeffery Franks, Mission Chief, IMF. Minister Finance Mr. Ishaq Dar and Secretary Finance Mr. Waqar Masood were also present during the meeting.
Prime Minister said that Pakistan recognizes its responsibilities towards international organizations and there exists an understanding about each other’s mandates. Prime Minister reposed confidence that Foreign Exchange Reserves of the country would improve as a result of the actions being taken to improve investor friendly environment in Pakistan.
IMF Delegation congratulated the Prime Minister for smooth democratic transition and stated that they were impressed by the Prime Minister’s economic vision. IMF representatives reposed confidence that the present government has a coherent plan and clarity of purpose for economic revival and there exists a capacity to implement the reforms’ plan into action.
