Walkout against minister’s remarks

ISLAMABAD - The opposition parties except MQM on Wednesday staged a token walkout from the Upper House the Parliament over the statement of the state minister for water and power saying the minister was fanning provincialism.
Before going on protest, parliamentary leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the Senate Mian Raza Rabbani said that the opposition was staging a token walkout from the house over the statement of Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali against Balochistan. The opposition said that the statement of minister was tantamount to fanning provincialism.
During the question hour session, the state minister while responding a supplementary question of PPP Senator Rozi Khan Kakar had said that power loadshedding in Balochistan could not be decreased especially in its Makran Division because no one was paying electricity bills there. “I didn’t want to say this on the floor of the House but the member’s query has forced me to reveal this,” he remarked. Earlier, the minister said that hours long loadshedding had decreased and the situation has improved especially in big cities of the country.
The minister said this while answering the question of Senator Sughra Imam that minister of water and power should state the salient features of the government’s new energy policy. On the answer of state minister, Senator Rozi Khan has asked that there were 20 hours load shedding in Makran Division and how the minister was saying that load shedding had decreased.
