Likeminded elects Chattha chairman, Rahim president

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League-Likeminded in its convention held on Saturday elected Hamid Nasir Chattha as its chairman and Arbab Ghulam Rahim as president.
Salim Saifullah Khan has been elected as Chairman Steering Committee. President and chairman Steering Committee seats were vacant, whereas other members already working on the positions they had been elected for will retain them. It was announced in the convention that the decision had been taken with the consent of all the members. Senator Ghaffar Qureshi said “We do not have a family ruling our party and replacing Salim Saifullah has proved that we are upholding democratic norms.” Saifullah said “We have set a new tradition of changing party leadership. Other parties should also adopt this line of action to strengthen democracy in the country as it starts from within.”
He also said “I know a party president, whose name I will not mention, but TV channels are mocking him and he has stayed as the head of the party for a long time.” He said that democracy has a wide meaning and they believe in real democracy. He also stated that party activists work with passion when they know that if they work hard, they can also head the party one day.
Considering the current political situation, the PML-Likeminded demanded immediate elections in the country. The meeting passed various resolutions including demand to counter inflation and corruption.
