Sacked employees of NTM warn of thirst strike

ISLAMABAD (PPI) - The sacked employees of Nishaat Textile Mills (NTM) Saturday warned to observe thirst strike as to stop drinking water from today (Sunday), if their demands were not fulfilled. Talking to this news agency, Rabnawaz Qamar representative of sacked employees of Nishaat Textile Mills said that they have set-up a hunger strike camp in front of National Press Club (NPC) from last 24 days but incumbent Federal Minister for Labour and Manpower, Syed Khursheed Shah never visited their camp to address their problems. Qamar said that now sacked employees have finally decided to observe thirst strike till death from Sunday because no one in government was ready to listen their problems. He said that Mill administration had sacked 17 office bearers of Nishaat Mills Labour Union, because they were fighting to protect the rights of 11, 000 labours. He said that forming a labour union was their right because incumbent Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani had lifted ban over the trade unions on March 29 2008. He maintained that the sacked employees would continue their strike till their death or fulfilment of their demands. Other sacked employees were chanting slogans against the government and the mill administration.
