ISLAMABAD - A special team of Islamabad police on Monday arrested the mastermind of Bara Kahu suicide attack, which was foiled.
The alleged mastermind was held in Faisalabad during a raid conducted by the Islamabad police team backed by the local police. “It is true that alleged mastermind has been nabbed. We are interrogating him,” one of higher officials of Islamabad police told The Nation on Monday.
It is worth mentioning here that at least three security guards had tried to intercept the suicide bomber. One security guard was killed while another got injured when they exchanged firing with suicide bomber. It was the third guard in the mosque who shot the attacker dead before the latter could blow himself up. The bomb disposal squad later defused the suicide jacket.
At least 500 grams of explosive material and ball bearings were present in the suicide jacket.
SSP Islamabad Dr Rizwan had also suspended six officials including the SHO of Bara Kahu police station Abid Hussain, as no police officer was present at the time of the attack.
