ISLAMABAD: As the holy month of Ramazan is fast approaching, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said drinking water supply from Simly Dam would be increased to 39 million gallons daily (MGD) for meting the requirement of consumers.
Chairing a meeting held here Thursday, Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal said generators would be arranged for ensuring uninterrupted water supply directing the Water Management Wing of the civic agency to expedite work maintenance work of 12 pumping stations in the capital.
The Finance Wing of the authority has already released funds for repair and maintenance of these pumping stations, while a 15-day deadline has been given for making the water sources operational.
The Chairman during the meeting further directed to speed up the ongoing work on different water supply schemes in the city. Inspection of ongoing water supply scheme in Shah Allah Ditta by the Chairman will be the first step in this direction. It was decided on the occasion that Water Management Wing should further improve the performance regarding water tanker service. In this regard he directed to dispose of the complaints on daily basis. A statement issued here appealed to the people to make judicious use of water.–Staff Reporter

The significant rains last month have resulted in sufficient storage of water in all reservoirs in Islamabad to what the CDA said would be enough to meet the drinking water requirement during the summer season.–Staff Reporter
