CDA kicks off annual tree plantation drive

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority is making its all-out efforts to make Islamabad the most beautiful and greenest capital of the world, said Member Engineering and Environment CDA, Sanaullah Aman, here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion of Annual Tree Plantation Campaign at Fatima Jinnah Park, Sanaullah said that CDA will plant 0.6 million saplings in the city during the approaching tree plantation drive in which NGOs and other institutions will plant 0.3 million trees. He said that CDA will plant 50,000 trees at F-9 park, Simly Dam areas and Margalla Hills that day, adding that every citizen should plant at least one tree with his/her mother's name.
He said that small parks of the city would be given to different schools, which would maintain and care for those parks. He said that roundabouts of the city would also be given to the different companies who will maintain and care for these roundabouts.
The member CDA said that along with residential sectors of the capital city, Spring Plantation would be conducted on major avenues of the city and in catchments areas of Margallah Hills and Simly Dam, he added.
The CDA has arranged the plants in a huge number and the authority envisages the mass participation in the plantation drive from students of different educational institutions, representatives of traders, NGOs, civil society and citizens at large.   
Senior officials of CDA including board members, people from different walks of life including students of different educational institutions, and representatives of traders, NGOs and civil society were present at the inauguration ceremony.
