QUETTA - President Pipeline Workers Union of the Pakistan Petroleum Limited Sui Gas fields Fakhr Mumtaz Ali Bugti has demanded of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for regularisation of workers. Addressing a Press conference here on Wednesday, he said that pipeline workers were working in PPL for the last four years while they were being paid only Rs 5,000 salary per month which was not enough to cater the demands of their family. He said they were protecting the gas pipelines at the risk of their lives. Our two colleagues had been killed in hand grenade attack while two others wounded but PPL did not announce any compensation for the victims, he added. He said the company was not ready to regularise them which was contrary to the policy of govt. Fakhr complained that government was also not paying attention towards their problems and demanded President and PM to take action in this connection and order the PPL to regularise workers and increase their salaries. He warned that if their genuine demands were not accepted they would start a massive protest movement.
