PPP demands release of Gilani, Taseer’s sons

ISLAMABAD - Opposition Leader in National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah, has raised concern over not demanding the release of Ali Gilani and Shahbaz Taseer during peace negotiations with TTP, while the government negotiators claimed that release of aforementioned civilians was in the pipeline but it might take some time.
Shah has criticised the government over its approach. “Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has supported the peace talks but impression is being given that we are in favour of it,” said Khursheed. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should take proper notice of not raising the issue of release of Gilani and Taseer during peace talks with Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Talking to this scribe on Monday, a member of government peace committee insisted that the issue of release of Gilani, Taseer and Dr Ajmal, vice chancellor University of Peshawar, had been discussed with TTP Shura.
“We had discussed this issue in our last meeting with TTP Shura and same demands will be raised in the upcoming meeting,” added the government committee member. He was much optimistic about the release of the vice chancellor.
