COAS calls on Zardari: Army role in rescue of flood affectees lauded

Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani on Monday met President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency. According to Presidential Spokesman, host of issues came under discussion like matters relating to security, flood situation, rescue and relief activities and others in length. COAS briefed President on relief and rescue operations by the Pakistan Army. He told President that 600,000-700,000 flood affectees have been shifted to safer places stressing Pakistan Army with all its resources are working round the clock to help flood victims in the country. President lauded the gigantic role of Civil Administration and Pakistan Army for providing down to earth steps and measures for helping flood victims when it matter the most. He said that the country and the people are proud of the efforts of the Pakistan army in this regard. He urged all organisations to make collective efforts in this hour of crises. President said that government will use all its financial resources for the restoration and rehabilitation of flood victims as we cannot leave our brothers and sisters in dire straits at any cost, sources said.
