ISLAMABAD (APP)- Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Amer Ali Ahmed Sunday directed magistrates to ensure regular price checking in the markets and keep strict watch on the prices of food items. He gave this order at a meeting held to review the on-going anti profiteering drive in the weekly bazaars. The meeting was attended by the assistant commissioners, magistrates and other officials. It was observed during the meeting that as many as 50 profiteers had been fined worth Rs30,000 during price checking drive in the last 15 days and samples of 50 food items including ghee and flour were taken from markets and flour mills for quality check. Amir Ali further ordered to ensure the quality of food items in the markets and on the complaints receiving from the consumers with prompt action. He directed the participants to ensure smooth supply of 20-kg flour bags in the city and rural areas at the control rates and take strict action against the profiteers. The Deputy Commissioner said that price stability of food items should be provided maximum relief through weekly bazaars with a strong price checking mechanism.
