Anti-encroachment op afoot

ISLAMABAD - Assistant Commissioner Sadar Islamabad, Rabi Aurangzeb, Wednesday conducted anti-encroachment operation in Mandi More area and cleared the area of encroachments.
The AC conducted the operation along with the SP I-9 and Capital Development Authority (CDA) encroachment staff and one illegal bus stand namely Bilal Travellers was closed down. The AC took legal action against the owner of the bus stand, said a press release issued here.
An illegal cotton factory operating without licence was also sealed in the Mandi More area. The AC told that green belts were also cleared of illegal parking of public service vehicles. The 80 kiosks on footpaths and encroaching roads were demolished. These kiosks were causing traffic jams in the area. The AC directed the transporters to refrain from parking their vehicles in the green belts and stern action would be taken against violators.
Meanwhile, AC Rural, Maryam Mumtaz, challaned 08 public service vehicles on account of non-payment of token tax and imposed heavy fines on transporters for not completing the designated routes. Transporters were directed to ensure payment of token tax on time and complete the designated routes.
