PAC recommends ban on Haj at govt expense

ISLAMABAD - Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday recommended that no government officer should perform Haj at government expenses.
The PAC reviewed audit objections for the year 1998-99 in respect of ministry of information and broadcasting under the chairmanship of Syed Khurshid Shah at the Parliament House.
On inquiring from the committee, the DG Radio told that he had performed Haj at the government expenses but he had returned the entire amount spent in this connection on return from Haj. The committee said that no government officer should perform Haj at government expenses.
Sheikh Rashid, member of the committee, said that several employees are receiving salary less than Rs 4200 in radio and the committee be informed how many employees are getting pay less than Rs 4200.
A member of the committee Raja Javed Ikhlas drew attention towards embezzlement of over Rs 140 million in former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf’s constituency NA-51.
Later talking to newsmen‚ Khurshid Shah said the committee has sought details of those projects of PPP period which are still incomplete.
