ISLAMABAD - Residents of G-14/4 have expressed grave concerns over the failure of Federal Government Employees’ Housing Foundation (FGEHF) to solve the basic problems of the residents. According to information, the area is lacking basic facilities, including water supply, clearance/disposal of sewerage lines, repair of roads and streetlights while the possession of plots in G-14/4 was given to the allottees about four years back and a good number of houses have been constructed.
The residents said that all the tube wells in the sector are out of order while the foundation stopped the supply of water to the area thorough water tanker without any reason, adding that drilling of tube-well was stopped at a depth of 400 feet contrary to the tender requirements of 600 feet with a malice motive. They said that main cause of this mal-administration is posting of non-technical staff on technical jobs and other elements such as corruption, nepotism and a very loose administrative hierarchy.
They demanded of the concerning authorities to take notice of all the irregularities and to issue directive in this regard.  
CDA allows additional portions on commercial plazas
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has allowed second additional storey on existing commercial plazas and have formed a committee to deal with such cases. The decision was taken by the CDA board in a meeting and also formed a three-member committee which will review applications for constructing additional portion. The CDA member planning while talking to INP said there were complaints that people were constructing additional portions on commercial buildings without permission of the CDA, and they avoid paying the fees to the authority.
“With the permission of an additional storey the authority will be able to generate income by collecting extra charges from the plaza owners,” said the member planning.
He said commercial centres like Super Market and Jinnah Super required additional stoeys because the present structures are inadequate to fulfill the need of increasing customers.
It merits mentioning here that out of the 49 illegally-constructed additional portions 25 have been legalised while cases of the remaining 24 are pending with the authority building control directorate.
