ISLAMABAD – The USAID Energy Policy Project, in collaboration with Roots College International Millennium Campus, conducted an interactive seminar on energy crisis in Pakistan and effective energy saving habits for its students at Roots Millennium Campus in Islamabad.
The seminar was aimed at creating awareness among the students about the dynamics of the energy sector and to educate them on effective energy saving and conservation habits. The students were given an overview of the energy sector, including the sources of electricity generation in Pakistan, the demand and supply statistics, and the electricity consumption patterns, says a press release issued here on Saturday.
Salahuddin Rifai, Advisor USAID Energy Policy Project, informed the students about the role of efficient lighting in energy conservation.
The students were also given an orientation about the project and its initiatives as well as the contributions made to Pakistan’s energy sector by USAID. “The purpose of conducting this seminar is to educate the younger generation about the energy situation in the country and make them better informed citizens so that they can contribute, even in the smallest of ways, in alleviating the energy crisis,” said Rifai.
CEO Roots Millennium Schools, Faisal Mushtaq and Principal Mrs. Safia Farooqi also spoke at the seminar and encouraged students to contribute towards energy conservation by adopting methods and habits that save energy.
The students showed great interest in the seminar and had a long interactive session with the speakers on areas of energy conservation, alternative sources of energy and power generation.
