ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) government on Tuesday started formal contacts with main opposition party (PPP) to resolve the issue of appointment of Chairman NAB, as the final round of discussion between Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and leader of opposition in the national assembly Khursheed Shah will be held soon.
In a formal contact between two the parties, Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Ishaq Dar made a contact with Khursheed Shah conveying their hitches on the name of Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwandas as Chairman NAB.
Talking to The Nation, Khursheed Shah said that Dar had contacted him on telephone and discussed their reservation on the name of Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwandas as Chairman NAB.
“Ishaq Dar contacted me saying that they have no objection on Rana Bhagwandas but he conveyed some legal complications on it,” said Khursheed Shah, expressing his view. He added that legal complications could be resolved through dialogue after which Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwandas could become Chairman NAB as no one had any objection to his appointment.
It is relevant to note here that Syed Khurshid Shah had already said that a new name would be provided if any legal complication comes on the way to the appointment of Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwan Das as Chairman NAB.
Shah, a couple of days before, had proposed names of Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwan Das and Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza for appointment as NAB Chairman.
