COAS briefs PM on NWA operation

ISLAMABAD - Lauding the services of the armed forces taking on the militants, Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over the pace of operation underway in North Waziristan.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif called on Premier Sharif here at Prime Minsiter’s House on Wednesday and briefed him on the progress and the targets so far achieved under the operation Zarb-i-Azb. He also informed the Premier about the role being played by Pakistan Army to facilitate the internally displaced persons at the camps.
The prime minister termed the ongoing operation Zarb-i-Azb a war of Pakistan’s future and expressed his firm resolve that the capable armed forces would weed out this menace from the motherland.
The operation would be instrumental in bringing peace and stability in the country, Premier said adding; “there is no room for militancy in the country.”
Chief of Army Staff also apprised the prime minister on IDPs’ situation. PM showed satisfaction that all the institutions are performing in a well-coordinated manner to support IDPs.
He said, “We are devising a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for them so that they can be rehabilitated with honour and dignity, after the operation is over”.
The army chief, on the occasion, reiterated the determination to root out terrorism from the country at all costs and come up to the expectations of the nation through Zarb-i-Azb operation. He said operation was aimed at establishing writ of the government in tribal areas and bringing peace in all parts of the country.
He said concrete steps would be taken so that terrorists do not return to these areas after the operation.
MAXIMUM FUNDS WILL BE PROVIDED TO IDPS, SAYS NAWAZ
Expressing his firm resolve not to leave IDPs alone in this hour of trial Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif directed Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to make available maximum funds for provision of adequate facilities to them who are actually sacrificing for the peace and stability in the country.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar called on Prime Minister here on Wednesday and discussed the overall economic situation in the country and the arrangements of finances for the IDPs and provision of money to them through easy mode.
The Finance Minister also briefed the Prime Minister on resources mobilised for North Waziristan IDPs.
He also directed Ishaq Dar to ensure that money would be made available at all costs to meet the needs of the IDPs who had actually abandoned their homes for the better future of the nation.
He further said that soon after the completion of the ongoing military action all the IDPs would be rehabilitated to their homes in honourable manner and government would also rebuild the infrastructure in the areas.
Sources aware of the deliberations of the meeting further said that Prime Minister also directed the Finance Minister to ensure provision of funds for power generation so that the long hours of loadshedding during the current month of Ramazan could be contained.
