ISLAMABAD - Following sharp criticism over performance by residents of the federal capital, the police force is currently on a campaign to make the city safe and worth living.
Senior officers of ICT police, according to insiders, are in a fix when it comes to devise a strategy to ensure foolproof security to the residents. Situation has gone from bad to worse following F-8 court attack in which 11 people were killed and dozens others got injured.
An ICT police spokesperson told media persons on Sunday that a comprehensive plan for conducting search operations in Afghan areas and slums of the city had been devised to arrest suspects and those who were staying illegally in the city. The spokesperson was of the view that the plan was to nab the terrorists before they could strike again.
“This plan has been chalked out following the directions of Inspector General of Islamabad Police Sikandar Hayat. The main purpose of this operation is to arrest suspects and criminal elements staying in these areas. I’m sure it will work well to ensure safety for the residents,” said the spokesperson.
According to a press note issued from the IGP office, police teams conducted search operation in Ali Pur and Farash Town on Sunday and arrested 35 suspects, impounded three motorbikes and two cars. Police also arrested one proclaimed offender Raja Azhar, an alleged narcotics dealer Nasir Sattar and Asghar Khan and recovered one 30-bore pistol and 1.25 kg charas from them.
