Tourism Ministry to hold exhibition on Islamic museums

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Ministry of Tourism is planning to organise an exhibition with regard to Islamic museums, showcasing the rare collections of ancient times, Islamic history and culture. Minister for Tourism Maulana Atta ur Rahman told this to the High Commissioner of Maldives to Pakistan Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, who called on him here Monday. The minister was responding to the proposal of High Commissioner for holding a joint fair or exhibition between Pakistan and Maldives. Minister for Tourism Maulana Atta ur Rahman invited Maldives to participate in the exhibition in which unique items would be put on display by different Islamic countries. This moot would be first of its kind in Pakistan, enabling the visitors to have a look at the fabulous antiques of Islamic countries. The Minister for Tourism Maulana Atta ur Rahman apprised the Maldivian envoy of Pakistans immense potential in its tourism sector either adventure, religious or archaeological. It was told that five out of 14-mountain peak above 8000 metres were located in Pakistan, besides 70 per cent of peaks over 7000 metres. Serene valleys, gushing rivers, high altitude fresh water lakes and vast swathe of deserts that stretch over hundreds of miles also add to the beauty of Pakistan in its enchanting adventure tourism. The High Commissioner of Maldives to Pakistan Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam said for the people of Maldives, a collection of tiny islands where no mountains exist, visit to Pakistan would be worth memorable. Maulana Atta ur Rahman invited the High Commissioner of Maldives to Pakistan Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam to visit tourists attraction sites in Pakistan. He said Pakistan was a safe destination to travel, however, biased Western media was out to link this South Asian country with extremism and other security issues. The Minister for Tourism Maulana Atta ur Rahman urged national media to project soft image of the country and counter malicious propaganda of the west against Islam and Pakistan. He said all efforts of the government would stand meaningless until and unless proactive role of national media was involved. Lets make concerted efforts to promote our tourism, our country, our religion. The two sides agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism between Pakistan and Maldives. Secretary Tourism Ali Arif, who was also present in the meeting, said law and order situation was gradually improving in Swat, and hoped tourism activity would be revived there. The secretary also apprised the envoy of other tourism destination in Pakistan. Joint Secretary Tourism Muhammad Yasin Janjua was also present.
