NBF introduces readers club cards

ISLAMABAD - The National Book Foundation (NBF) is serving nation with novel idea of creating good habit and activity of studying books in the people living in the cities, even at far-flung areas of the country, through Readers Club Card Scheme.
Managing Director NBF, Prof Dr Inamul Haq Javaid, expressed these views in a meeting with the Forest Minister of Azad Jummu & Kashmir, Sardar Javaid Ayub, who took a visit of NBF head office here on Monday. The guest availed the opportunity of getting the Readers Club card from one window operation. He appreciated this scheme of inculcating the habit of studying books very much.
"A large number of book lovers have been coming and taking keen interest in this scheme since its launching date at the one window set-up far and wide in the country," said the MD on this occasion. He said that knowledge is power; books are main source of this power and NBF is transferring this power in the masses by playing a vital role of creating book reading habit in the head and heart of these.
"It is no denying fact that NBF is the best forum for books lovers. Reading books is the most popular and best hobby for all age group peoples throughout the world. Books are great source of knowledge and giving information instantly for all ages for all people," said the MD NBF. He urged the people to avail this facility of NBF to purchase all categories of books except textbooks from the given list of bookshops at discounted rates at 50 per cent of each book with the ceiling of total amount to Rs 5,000 for each Readers Club Card holder.
The managing director also briefed the guest about the achievements, performance and future plan of the organisation. The guest was shown glimpses of different special corners in the book shop, specified for well known scholars as Allama Iqbal, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Ahmed Faraz and Parveen Shakir etc. where the complete set of selection of work of these dignities are placed for book lovers. The minister purchased a few valuable books from NBF Book Shop. He specially took interest in the books of History of Islam and History of Indo-Pak. The guest praised particularly the National Museum and Art Gallery set-up during his visit where the Statues of Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal, Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Saadat Hassan Minto are placed.
He said that these are depicting the memorable movements of these towering personalities of our nation.
