EU realizes terrorism as serious challenge: FM
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that it was the realization in the European Union that terrorism is a serious challenge and no country alone can confront it. Talking to BBC, he said We need capacity building to counter terrorism and we need capacity building in our civilian institutions. Replying to a question he said Pakistan needs to rebuild a modern, well-trained, well-equipped police force to restore the civil services that will have to hold areas that have been cleared of terrorists. We must see the EU countries have reacted and responded to public opinion, adding that the public opinion in the EU has to be mobilized. FM said that his delegation headed by President Zardari has told the EU leaders that they cannot be secured in Brussles or in Paris or in Rome if this menace of terrorism and extremism was not dealt with a convincing manner.
