Nisar, US envoy discuss regional security situation

ISLAMABAD  - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Acting US Ambassador to Pakistan, Thomas Williams, on Monday discussed matters relating to bilateral relations with particular reference to security situation in the region.
Earlier, the acting US ambassador called on the interior minister.
Nisar said that Pakistan and US enjoyed good relations in all fields and the government desired to further strengthen these in the years to come. He highlighted the need for greater transparency in bilateral relations between the two countries and said it would help strengthen ties further.
The minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the government was committed to following a non-partisan policy in regional matters, especially in the wake of withdrawal of international forces from Afghanistan.
Williams was confidence that recently presented National Internal Security Policy (NISP) would be helpful in meeting the challenges posed by terrorism and militancy.
