ISLAMABAD  - The European Union (EU) mission in Pakistan on Monday emphasised that constitution of Pakistan provides legitimate framework for dialogue to resolve political current impasse.
“The EU delegation underlines its conviction that the constitution of Pakistan provides legitimate framework for dialogue to resolve current impasse,” a statement issued by the EU mission said.
It said that the consolidation of democracy is one of the European Union’s top priorities in Pakistan and the EU has funded a significant number of programmes aimed at strengthening parliamentary institutions both at federal and provincial levels.
It further said that the EU also funds capacity building initiatives to support electoral reforms in line with the 50 recommendations submitted by the EU Election Observation Mission following the 2013 general elections in Pakistan. “GSP plus market access is the ultimate reflection of the EU’s strong commitment to the economic prosperity of a democratic Pakistan”, the statement concluded.
