Housing sector offers lucrative opportunities to investors

ISLAMABAD (APP): Chairman Senate, Muhammedmian Soomro said housing and construction sectors offer excellent opportunities of profitable investment to the local as well as foreign businessmen and entrepreneurs. He was talking to a 5 - member Malaysian Business delegation headed by Raja Ashman Shah currently visiting Pakistan. It included Wan Mohammed Yaacob bin Wan Saladin, Chief Executive, Dwitasik and Jalauddin Bin Abu, Director Ibsul Holdings. The Chairman said Pakistan is facing a shortage of 5-6 million housing units annually. There is tremendous scope for affordable and low cost housing units particularly for the middle and lower income groups. Innovative designing and execution of such projects will decide the issue, he added. The Chairman also apprised the visitors of the role and functions of the Upper House of the Parliament. He said that all the federating units have equal representation in Senate whereas the seats of the National Assembly are based on population of the respective provinces. The leader of the Malaysian delegation briefed the Chairman on the activities of his group, which is active in the housing sector and is currently engaged in development of a new sector in collaboration with the DHA. He appreciated the Government's policies in this regard, adding that these are instrumental in attracting foreign investment. Raja Ashman Shah is the son of Sultan Azlan Shah of Malaysia. Matters relating to development of sports particularly Hockey also came up for discussion during the meeting. The delegation included investors from Dwitasik and Ibsul Holdings of Malaysia. The former is one of Malaysia's leading developers of large-scale residential and commercial projects. The latter, is a Malaysian Civil Engineering Contractor.
